On the printer's screen, look for a "Scan to Email," "Scan to USB drive," or "Scan to Network Folder" option, and choose the destination. If you're using a large office-style scanner/copying machine/printer, you might be able to start the scan and choose your options from the screen on the device without using software on your computer.You can do this wirelessly with modern scanners, or with a USB or Thunderbolt cable for all other scanners. To ensure that you can scan your book and save it as a PDF, you will need to add the scanner in Windows or macOS. Make sure the scanner is connected to your computer.
